Meet the Coaches - Amanda Partington, Men's 1st Team Squad Coach

Amanda is an EHB Level 3 hockey coach and has a wide variety of experience in Sports Coaching, Sport Development and Education.

Amanda has coached Poynton Ladies in the Women’s National League, the North of England U18, English Universities 1st XI, Loughborough Students 1st XI and Bowdon Men's 1st X1 in the National League. 

Between 2002 and 2004 Amanda received a coaching scholarship from England Hockey and acted as a high performance coach for World Class Hockey between 2002 and 2006; attending the European Championships and Four Nations tournament with England U18 girls.

Amanda has also worked in coach education, authoring workshops on decision making, player profiling and game play for England Hockey and tutoring coaches working towards their awards.

In 2005 Amanda accepted the role of National Manager for Education and Schools with England Hockey. During her time with the governing body Amanda designed and developed the successful primary game ‘Quicksticks’ , developed Coaching for Teachers awards and was instrumental in the inception of National Performance Centres in Higher Education, Amanda left England Hockey in 2009 to work with The Sports Science & Training Group Limited (SSTG Ltd).

SSTG Ltd runs the Hardcore Hockey website, its an interactive resource; an online training ground where you can view and utilise advice on all aspects of the game. Annual memberships are available for less than a £1 per week.Monthly memberships are £4.99.

Alongside coaching work Amanda also completed an MSc in Exercise Science and Nutrition at Chester University, this involved research on the physiological training demands of practice drills in invasion games. This work has helped Amanda to develop a detailed knowledge of hockey-specific fitness drills and practices.

In 2009 Amanda became the first female coach in men’s Premier League Hockey and was later appointed assistant Coach for Wales Senior women, attending the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

Amanda has a passion for hockey and holistic approach to athlete development. If you have been coached by Amanda then you will have experienced the intensity and effectiveness of her approach.

Amanda writes - 'allowing everyone the opportunity to develop their knowledge around their chosen sport, regardless of their place of birth, location, local coaches, club and school availability is my main drive'.

 

Meet the Coaches- John Bell- Ladies Head Coach.

 

John is also Men's Head Coach and Director Of Coaching at Brooklands MU Hockey Club that were promoted last season back to  National League .He has been an EHB Centrally Contracted Coach since 2007. An Ex-England International player, EHB Performance Coach of the Year 2009, currently an England Hockey Board Level 3 Coach, John is working towards a UKCC Level 4 PG Dip ( Elite Coaching Practice) Award. He has been an EHB Coach supporting National Age group sides u16,u18 & u21 since 2007.

John 'expects success and reward from hard work, perseverance and a change in knowledge' and brings a valuable range of experience to The Edge. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Meet the Coaches- Graham Bryant- Men's Second team Coach.

Graham Bryant was appointed Mens 2nd team Coach in October 2011. He is an EHB Level Two Coach currently working towards his Level three award. Graham is currently the Chairman of the Junior section and has made a tremendous contribution to the development of young players at AEHC.
