Volunteering opportunities

A devoted number of volunteers  work very hard to make Alderley Edge a successful and thriving club, and the club could not run without its volunteers. Other than through the provision of professional coaching, the hockey section is managed and governed on a voluntary basis by its members.

There are a number of volunteer positions within the Alderley Edge Hockey section, most noticeably the committee, the coaching support team, team managers, umpires, team captains and  fund raising/event organising .

If you have skill, enthusiam or a willingness to assist then please contact the Club Volunteer Co-ordinator to discuss currrent opportunities.

Recognising Volunteers:

Volunteering in Alderley Edge Hockey Club is widely encouraged as an opportunity to contribute to the smooth running of a large successful club. This starts from an early age, with older members of the junior section encouraged to participate in coaching and umpiring of younger teams.

Support:

The President  gives full support to the committee, who will offer support to other volunteers. Actions and updates will be communicated at regular committee meetings.

Training:

Volunteers, coaches and umpires will have the opportunity to gain qualification through approved training courses.

Insurance:

The Club holds its own liability insurance cover but is not able to offer advice, on behalf of the Club or its Sections, on its suitability to individuals’ circumstances. We would therefore recommend that all volunteer coaches and umpires seek advice from an accredited insurance advisor.

Volunteer Recognition:

It is the aim of the committee to organise events where the recognition of the volunteers can be acknowledged. The President annually awards 'The Chairmans Trophy' to his choice of the member of the season in recognition of their contribution to the club.

INTERESTED ???
Please speak with Teresa Hadfield  or any member of the Committee. In order to volunteer for a role it is necessary to complete an Annual Volunteer Agreement Form.

Volunteer Agreement Form

Here is the Volunteer Agreement Form to be signed by all Volunteers before taking on a Volunteer role in the Club. It's a statement you sign confirming you have read various procedures and policies that theClub follows as part of the 'ClubsFirst' accreditation.

Young Volunteers and Leaders.

The Club encourages young people to volunteer to help with running the Club and to develop leadership and life skills.

Junior members are made aware of opportunities and courses that complement Sports Leadership courses run within school such as 'Step in to Sport' or the Duke of Edinburgh Awards.

From time to time the club runs EHB Leadership Award courses with an umpiring and coaching module. A great way to train the next generation of volunteers. Young people can help organise, coach or umpire younger age groups at coaching sessions.

This form is a useful place to record tasks and activities undertaken.
