AEHC / 2008 -2009
Its that emotional time of year, with one week of the season remaining, when promotions, relegations and teams fates are decided.
Last weekend saw Alderley win two Cheshire championships....yes two!!
AEHC won the Under 13 Boys County Championship for 2009, and now progress to the Northern Finals as Cheshire Champions.
AEHC won every game without needing penalty flicks to decide any. In the group stages they won 8-0 vs Triton Warriors,
6-0 vs Winnington Park, 1-0 vs Chester, 1-0 vs Neston A, and 8-0 vs Oxton B. The semi-final was a tight game won 2-1 vs Bowdon, but in the final we came back strongly from a goal down versus Deeside to win 6-1. That's a total of 36 goals for (from six different players) and only 2 against.
The Under 13 Boys Second team also did well in the County Championship - a reflection of our excellent strength in depth. And the performance of the younger players on both teams promises well for next year's competition.
Alderley also won the Under 11 Boys County Championship for 2009 for the third year running, and now progress to the Northern Finals as Cheshire Champions. They beat Triton, Deeside, Chester, Neston and Pownal Hall to secure the title. An excellent all-round display from the team.
Praise also to the U11 girls who were the highest place club side in their Cheshire Minis, only loosing out to the school teams.
On Saturday the Ladies 1s guaranteed back to back promotions to move up into Division 1 of the Cheshire Women's League. This followed an impressive 2-0 victory against South Cheshire. This Saturday they go for the league title.
The Ladies 2s need one point from their last game to gain promotion, and the Ladies 3s seek promotion .
The main challenge for the club this weekend is to avoid relegation for the Mens 1s from the Northern Premier after a "crazy" 6-7 defeat to relegation rivals Newcastle Uni.It is a must win game against Oxton on Saturday.
Similarly the Mens 3s are in a relegation fight this weekend to decide their league status,
