A very warm welcome to the Junior Section of the club. Through this section of the site we will hopefully give you all the information you need to get the most out of your membership and the coaching programs.
Alderley Edge Tennis Club is widely acknowledged to have one of the best junior development programs in Cheshire. We have a thriving membership of approximately 300 Juniors.
Junior Team Tennis
We have A and B mixed teams in each of the age categories; U13, U15 and U18 that play in the Slazenger Junior North East Cheshire Lawn Tennis League. Information on forthcoming matches, team results and current league standings can be found by following the link alongside.
This year the U18 teams will play in divisions 2 and 3; the U15 teams will be in divisions 1 and 3; and the U13 teams will play in divisions 1 and 3 also.
Some dates for your 2009 diary….
- Junior Open Tennis Tournament at the club will be held from Monday 6th July to Friday 10th July;
- The 51st League Annual Open Junior Tournament will be held at the club from Sunday 2rd August to Friday 7th August inclusive; and
- There will be a ‘starter’ tournament at the club from 12.30pm on Sunday 17th May for Boys and Girls Doubles in the Under 18, Under 15 and Under 12 categories.
In addition, there are also opportunities to play in other local one-day tournaments such as the Youatt Cup and the Monkhouse Shield.
The matches are played in good spirit and usually we have a crowd of spectators. Many thanks to all those parents who support their children by watching the matches and also provide transport to other clubs.
There will be squad coaching for anyone playing or interested in playing on a team from Sunday 15th March for 4 weeks at 4-6.30pm

Friday Club Evenings
The sessions are strictly for members only; these will start on Friday 1st May through to 3rd July.
5pm-6pm 7-10 year olds
6pm-7pm 13 years and under
7pm-8pm 14 years and over
These are supervised by the Coaches and all standards are welcome and it is a great chance to meet other players and enjoy social tennis. These evenings can be very popular and so expect to be asked to display your shoe tag. From 8pm you will need to provide your own tennis balls.
Parents must ensure that their child/children are collected at the end of the session and supervised by an adult when not on court.
What to wear and bring with you to Club evening/matches/coaching
The club asks that all players wear recognised tennis clothing. Football or beach wear is not acceptable. Only proper tennis shoes are allowed on court and must be non-marking. No other type of shoe is allowed. ALL TRAINING SHOES ARE PROHIBITED.
Membership shoe tags must be worn, you will be asked to leave the court if you do not have your tag on.
Mobile phones must be switched off on court at all times.
Please see the Junior Clothing for a range of tennis wear available from the club or contact Philippa Stewart on 01477 571253. Orders will be sent off at the end of April, June and Spetember only, so members need to get their orders (and cheques) to Philippa before then.
Coaching and matches will take place in most weather. Parents need to check with a coach at the court that coaching is on before leaving their child.

Membership
Membership/registration forms are available on the website, accessed form the home page, or from within the club house. The current subscription is £75 and subscriptions run from January (pro rata rates will be calculated). If you are already a member of the Club for another sport the extra subscription is only £18 (or £12 if you are already a member for 2 other sports). We cannot select you for matches if you do not become a member. Membership also entitles you to use all the clubhouse facilities. For Tennis a parent or guardian has to be a current member of the Club (Social membership is sufficient).
