LADIES SECTION 2007/2008 SEASON
Hello all, and welcome to the 2007/08 Hockey Season.
I would firstly like to welcome new members to the club. You have joined at a particularly exciting time; as the Ladies 1st XI strive for promotion to Division 2, the Ladies 2nd XI look for promotion to Division 6 and as we introduce a new Ladies 3rd XI to ensure that our superb junior squad get sufficient match play. To all ladies already members, welcome back its going to be a good season!
Training will start on September 4th and is held at Wilmslow High School every Tuesday during term time. The cost for Training is £2 per session or £50 upfront for the season. Can I please encourage all members to pay £50 upfront as it saves having to worry about bringing money to training!
Training times are as follows;
6.15 - 7.30pm U/15
7.30 9.30pm All other members
On Saturday September 15th we will be having a 3 hour training session at Wilmslow High School for all members from 12pm until 3pm. Please make every effort to attend this training session as it will benefit your team selection.
The selection policy has recently been stream lined and is now as follows;
- Selection this season will be based on commitment to training and matches as well as fitness and availability. If you are unable to make training, please advise your captain/manager as soon as you are aware.
- At the start of the season, no teams or team places will have been selected
- The selection process will start from the first Saturday and continue during training sessions and following Saturdays
- This year there will be a selection committee and the final say on selection will be the responsibility of the relevant captain or manager (if there is no captain)
- If any team is short of players, the captain is to contact the team below to request players
- If any player is dropped, the captain of the current team is to contact the player involved BEFORE the captain of the team they will play for contacts them
- 1st XI is to have the team selection decided before training and communicate to the 2XI/3rd XI captain/manager before the start of training.
Pete Hardman will have overall responsibility for Ladies coaching this season with John Barnes, who has previously looked after our very successful Northern Premier League mens 1st team, now looking after the Ladies 1st XI. This is a huge boost for the ladies 1st XI as he will also be available to coach on match days which is an invaluable asset for the club as a whole.
Match fees for Cheshire League Games will be £7.00 for senior players and £5.00 for Junior members.
The Ladies 1st XI have managed to secure sponsorship for their home shirts from Fosters Chip Shop in Alderley Edge. Thanks go to Fosters and their team for sponsoring us.
We are looking for sponsorship for all 3 Ladies teams. If you know of anyone that would be interested in sponsoring us, I will have costs posted on the website. Alternatively, if people can contact me directly that would be excellent.
We are always welcoming new members throughout the season so if you know of anyone that would like to join, please encourage them to come along to training on Tuesdays!
Many thanks for reading. There is a fair amount of information to digest though I hope the positive changes that we have made in time for the start of the season come through and benefit all teams, and AEHC in general.
