Alderley Edge Cricket Club Tennis section had a very successful 2007 season in the Slazenger North-East Cheshire Lawn Tennis League.
MENS TEAMS
The Men's 2nd team, under the captaincy of Mark Airey the Head Coach, finished top of Division 2 having won all ten matches and will now join Alderley Edge's 1st Team who finished a very creditable fourth in Division 1 for the 2008 season, thus two Men’s teams in the top Division in 2008. The 3rd team also gained promotion out of Division 5B, whilst the 4th and 5th teams remain in Divisions 5A and 6B for next season.
LADIES TEAMS
The Club has 3 ladies teams playing in the NE Cheshire summer league, the 1st and 2nd teams play in the 4th division and the 3rd team in the 5th division.
The 2007 season resulted in the 1st team finishing in the top third of Division 4A, the 2nd team finished in the lower third of Division 4B and the 3rd team finished third in Division 5B.
As the 2nd and 3rd team had gained promotion in the 2006 season these results reflected good consolidation and team effort from all concerned.
There is organised ladies team practice led by tennis professional Steve Flanagan (07970 482195).
