Junior Tennis - End of Season Review

Junior Tennis - End of Season Review

Main Image

Over 80 children participated in our end of season events this year - a culmination of the fantastic success that Stuart Murray has brought to the junior tennis at the club. Since Stuart's arrival in February 330 junior tennis players have attended one or more tennis camps, coaching sessions or played in the teams.

The mini tennis groups are now very active and we expect to see the fruits of our Stuart and Jack's labour in the coming years.

The new Boys Under 18 team won their league and will be promoted to the second division of the Junior North East Cheshire League. We hope for one better next year! The other eight teams held their own in their respective divisions and we hope that with Stuart and Jack's help, we will see more divisional winners in the future...

Next year we plan to introduce more teams playing in the Aegon leagues (we had one team this year), where the children play both singles and doubles matches. And the results of these contribute to their LTA ratings.  The older children who are at a standard to play in the adult teams have now joined into the adult box leagues - and we are looking forward to seeing some junior wins!

Coaching, match-play and junior club-night continue into the winter - so if you haven't joined in yet, then please do so! Full details of times and dates are on the web-site. And if you have any questions then please contact either Stuart Murray or Ruth Samuels (contact details on the web-site) for further information. If you want to join a coaching session, please contact Stuart regarding availability as a number of the squads are now full.

And we look forward to seeing more of you than ever on the tennis courts!
