Some good news and some not so good news this week....
The good news:
The new token meter system is now up and running on courts 9-13. If you are a 'block booker' and haven't collected your tokens from the bar, then please do so.
If you wish to play on an ad hoc basis under the lights on courts 9, 11 and 13 then tokens can be purchased at the bar. Each token provides light for 30 minutes.
The on-line booking system will go live once all the new floodlit courts are in play. If you haven't yet registered for the booking system then click here to register.
The new path to courts 9-14 has been covered in astro and is nearly complete:
The lines have been laid on courts 7/8 and the 5m fencing installed:
5m fencing has also been installed alongside court 1. This fencing will give some more protection to tennis players but will not prevent all balls from landing on court, as this would require 18m of fencing.
The not so good news:
Unfortunately we have to replace three of the newly installed floodlight columns on court 1, 2, 4 and 5 and this has resulted in some delays. We are hoping that this work will be carried out in the next week. This will again give rise to some closures on court 1-3 while this work is completed.
We apologise for any inconvenience and hope you will bear with us during this time. Once the new columns are in place the carpet layers will complete their work on court 4-6 and the rest of the project can continue, albeit later than planned. The lights will re-installed on the new columns and testing of the lights will recommence. We need to ensure that the planning conditions are met before we can use the new lights for play.
We certainly expect to be ready by the Court Opening Event date - Sunday March 24th - so please book on-line or sign up on the notice board in the club-house. It should be a great event and a celebration of our fantastic new facilities.
And if you fancy a good night out before that date, then please buy tickets to the 70s 80s night. Tickets are selling fast! The event is being held in the marquee at the club - details below:
