At the Cheshire LTA Awards presentation this week, Max Green won the Cheshire LTA Young Person of the Year Award. Congratulations to Max!
Max has been helping with junior coaching since 2017, starting voluntarily, proceeding to his Sports Leaders award and then to his Level 1 coaching qualification which was completed in October 2018. He acted as a volunteer in both 2017 and 2018, assisting at Easter and summer holidays camps, and on a Friday after school, coaching tiny tots and mini-red groups. He has continued to assist this year. The children love him. He is 6’ 4”+ tall and the children look up to him – a long way and in every way! He always has a sunny disposition and is ready to help at club events, such as our Court Opening event this year. Over the three years of his assistance, mentored by Stuart, Max has grown in stature and is now able to lead a group of children, keeping their attention while still making the sessions fun.
Max is now putting his formal coaching qualifications into practice and is being given more responsibility as a result. He continues to develop as an individual and is now as comfortable liaising with the children’s parents as with the children themselves. His own tennis continues to improve and Max is also a regular member of the men’s teams as well as a member of the successful boys under 18 team who recently won the Junior Boys Cheshire Shield (see team photo below). On every occasion Max acts responsibly, maturely and with a good understanding of those around him.
Max has been a valuable member of junior, adult and coaching teams at Alderley Tennis Club. He is a very personable young man and with his friendly character and relaxed approach he deserves to succeed in his life in general as well as in the sporting environment.
Well done Max!!
Max was part of the under 18 boys team who won the Cheshire Shield this year. Jonah G, Mason D, Leo C and Max were all mentioned at the Cheshire LTA Awards ceremony.
