There’s an awful lot of work that goes on behind the scenes to make sure that the children can enjoy their cricket, even more this year as we maximise the playing opportunities whilst maintaining compliance with COVID guidance. Last year we had a full season of coaching & competitive cricket. I hope we can do the same this year. We have wonderful facilities at the club, as well as coaches & team managers who are looking forward to welcoming you to the club.
In the 2021 season we have entered plenty of teams for those cricketers who enjoy competitive games. You can find more about the age groups & teams in the junior cricket section.
As a club our continued aim is to develop the children’s cricketing skills at every level and to produce capable, gracious players. Whilst every team plays to win, it is an equally important in the child’s development that they understand that sport, just as in life, isn’t a success-only journey, and they will need to learn to handle challenges, loss and adversity with dignity and resolve. This is such an important part of our development program. Arguably we learn more from our losses than our victories and no lesson is ever wasted unless we fail to learn from it.
As part of the junior development program, we will coach the children not just it terms of the game of cricket but also in their conduct, etiquette and sportsmanship. They will learn to be magnanimous in victory and be gracious and dignified in defeat. See code of conduct
Finally, on behalf of the all parents and players, I’d like to convey our deep thanks and gratitude to all the volunteers, managers, organisers and club secretaries to name a few, who work tirelessly and give up a disproportionate amount of their spare time to make sure the junior cricket is a success at Alderley Edge.
Best wishes to all our players and teams for a sunny and successful season!
