Coming to The Edge in late 2015

Inspired by The Paralympics, Alderley Edge Hockey Club plan to work with Cheshire East Council and local organisations to set up a programme for people with disability and learning difficulties.

If you would like to help us shape the programme or are involved with an organisation that may be interested in working with us, please get in touch with Kelvin Briggs.

The club are pleased to be engaging with with Access Sport to develop a programme following the success of a programme at Waltham Forest Hockey Club and their 'Forest Flyerz' programme.

Access Sport, founded in 2004, is a dynamic charity whose mission is to give more children, particularly in disadvantaged areas, access to a wide range of quality local sport.  They look to harness the proven power of sport to tackle social exclusion, inactivity and obesity in areas where help is most needed.  They achieve this through empowering the inspirational community volunteers who set up and run local sports clubs with support, expert advice and networking to help create thriving clubs which get more people positively engaged.

The 'Forest Flyerz' is their section for children and young people with any learning or physical disability.
They run coaching sessions weekly, and thanks to the generosity of partners and volunteers, they are absolutely free!
The sessions have been running since November 2011, and already The Flyerz have seen many young Flyerz learn new hockey skills, improve co-ordination, social skills and teamwork and have a blast along the way!

An inspiring innovation that we are looking to launch in late 2015
